Why A Water Heater Inspection is So Important

Whether it’s in your mind, on a spreadsheet, or a pad of paper, we all have a list somewhere of things that need to be done with regularity.  Like scheduling dental exams every six months.  Having your car’s oil changed every 5,000 miles.  And whatever else you tend to on an ongoing basis.

Well, here’s one more item for that list, and trust us, this one is super important:  annual water heater performance and safety inspections.

For starters, all kinds of things can go wrong with your storage tank water heater.  Plus, it’s average lifespan is only 8 – 12 years, so it stands to reason that the better you take care of it, the better job it can do of providing all the hot water you need, when you need it.

As the name of the service suggests, Arnold & Sons Plumbing will inspect your water heater with more than its performance worthiness in mind.  We’re even more concerned about the negative impact it can have on your home and your family’s well-being.  And that’s especially true of gas water heaters.  If a gas leak occurs and goes unchecked, for example, a water heater is capable of exploding.  Or, if the flue isn’t working properly, poisonous carbon monoxide gas can leak into your living spaces. And nothing good can come of that.

Other than as a precautionary measure, you also should contact us to inspect your water heater should you notice water on the floor of around the unit, less than your normal supply of hot water, rust colored hot water, or other signs that your system isn’t working as well as it once did.

Otherwise, if you simply can’t remember the last time your water heater was inspected, or know for sure it’s been more than a year, today’s a great day to call Arnold & Sons to schedule service.  When it comes to you and your family, safety is our first concern.
