What Peoria Water Problems Will Installing a Water Filter Fix?
While the exact benefits of installing a water filter vary by equipment type, many of our customers install water filters to fix the following Peoria-area water issues.
Chlorine Taste and Odor
If your water tastes or smells like chlorine, you probably don’t enjoy drinking it or using it to shower as much as you could. To address chlorine tastes and odors, we use carbon filtration systems. Whole-home carbon filtration treats water for multiple fixtures, while an under-sink point-of-use filter can focus treatment on drinking and cooking water.
Sediment, Grit and Rust Particles
Sand, silt, and loose rust particles can leave grit in water and collect in faucet screens. Sediment filters capture these particles as water enters the home, helping keep debris out of fixtures and appliance water connections. Arnold & Sons can include sediment filtration as the first stage of a whole-home system, where it also helps protect any additional downstream water treatment equipment you have.
Iron and Manganese Staining
Orange or reddish-brown stains can indicate iron in the water. If you notice darker stains than that, you may have too much manganese in your water. These concerns can occur in many Peoria-area homes that rely on private wells.
We recommend specialized iron and manganese filters that target these substances to help reduce staining on sinks, tubs, and toilets. Arnold & Sons uses water-test results to determine which treatment is appropriate.

Water Filtration Repair
If your system leaks, restricts water flow, or no longer improves taste and odor, we identify the cause and explain the repair options and pricing. When equipment is badly damaged, or replacement parts are unavailable, we help you decide whether a new system makes more sense.
Do You Need Whole-Home Filtration, a Drinking-Water Filter or a Softener?
Whole-home filtration makes sense when you want treatment at multiple fixtures. If your main concern is water for beverages and meals, a point-of-use system can provide filtered water at a selected tap.
An under-sink reverse osmosis system is a type of point-of-use water treatment system that can reduce dissolved salts and other substances, depending on the system’s verified capabilities. (An under-sink RO system is pictured above)
For hardness-related scale and soap residue, a water softener removes calcium and magnesium. A softener and filter can work together when a home has both hardness and filtration concerns. Our water treatment experts will evaluate your needs to determine the type of water filtration equipment you need.
Water Filtration FAQ
How often do whole-house filters need maintenance?
Whole-house filters need maintenance on a schedule specific to the equipment and your water use. Sediment filters generally need more frequent replacement than carbon media. We’ll explain the schedule for your system.
Do I need filtration if I’m on Peoria city water?
Filtration is optional for Peoria city water, but it can help reduce chlorine taste, odors, and sediment. The right filter depends on what you want to improve.
Will a whole-house filter reduce my water pressure?
A whole-house filter can reduce water pressure if it becomes clogged or is too small for your household’s demand. Proper sizing and regular maintenance ensure your water flows as well as it did before you installed a whole-house filter.
Can one filter remove everything from my water?
No single filter removes everything from your water. Different filters target different substances, so some homes need more than one treatment stage.
